Playing With Your Cat

Playing With Your Cat

Play can keep your cat stay happy and healthy. Play provides exercise, mental stimulation and a chance for you to bond with your cat. Always use toys to play with your cat so you don’t get scratched or bitten by an overly excited cat. Pick toys that stimulate your cat’s hunting instincts. A ball, laser pointer or a fishing rod toy with a feather lure can entice your cat to chase, pounce and jump. Squeaky toys and crinkling toys can be irresistible and keep your cat busy for long periods of times. Empty paper bags or boxes provide great lairs so your cat can ambush any passing prey even if it is a stuffed cloth mouse. Plan on a dedicated half hour of playtime per day. Catnip can amp up the level of play if your cat reacts to it. Learn more from your qualified veterinary clinic Lafayette LA.
