How to Manage your Diabetic Ocicat’s Health

If your Ocicat has feline diabetes, it’s important to keep a close eye on her health and wellness as it can take a hit due to a compromised immune system. Diabetes tends to make cats susceptible to other illnesses. Taking your cat in for frequent vet wellness visits can help detect any additional illnesses. You should also keep an eye out for conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTI). Signs your cat has a UTI may include painful urination, blood in the urine, abnormal or frequent urination and uncontrolled urinating or urinating in inappropriate locations. If you see these symptoms in your Ocicat call your vet. Another illness that may occur is pancreatitis or an inflamed pancreas. Signs to look out for may involve lethargy, depression, vomiting, abdominal pain, dehydration and possible diarrhea. Again, call your veterinary clinic Scottsdale, AZ if your cat has any of these symptoms.
