Teaching Your Dog Not to Jump Up on People

Dogs that jump up on people usually were encouraged to do this when they were puppies. However, it’s not so much fun now that your dog is fully grown. You need to discourage this bad habit and redirect your dog to do something else instead. Whenever your dog starts to jump up on you, turn around quickly so he falls to the floor. Don’t punish your dog or yell at him. When all four feet are on the floor, give your dog a food treat and lots of praise. Practice this often and ask other family members and friends to do the same. Try to anticipate when your dog will jump up and insist that he sit by you. If he is sitting, he can’t be jumping up. Soon your dog will be broken of the jumping up habit.
