All about the Aegean Cat

If you’re looking for a rare breed then start your search for the Aegean cat of Greece. This national treasure of Greece originated on the island of Cyprus some 10,000 years ago. Archeological evidence points to the Aegean as one of the first (if not the first) domesticated cat. The cat got his name from the Aegean Sea which surrounds his island home. The breed was declared an official breed some 20 years ago. Although rare around the globe, the Aegean cat is quite popular in Greece and easy to find, purchase, or adopt.
